| Rob Jenkins Ballroom and Salsa Rob Jenkins'' love of dance started in an elective ballroom class at Indiana University. After earning a degree in anthropology, he decided he could not stop dancing. In 1999, he began to teach. After a year, he met Melissa Josephs and two years later they started to compete in the American Smooth category for just under five years. Now they are retired from competition and engaged to be married. Along the way, Rob has worked primarily with Christine Zona as his coach. He has also worked with Ed Simon, Terri Irwin, and Artie Stone. Rob is continuing his ballroom education with International Standard as his current concentration. He vows to never stop his own education in dance because he feels there will always be something new and exciting to learn which in turn brings excitement to the lessons he teaches. He also studies Alexander technique, ballet and tai chi to supplement his ballroom dancing and to provide more knowledge in various form of movement. Rob teaches American Smooth and Rhythm as well as International Standard and Latin, and some salsa, too. He teaches all levels of dancers and, having started his ballroom career at twenty-four, knows what it is like for the non-dancer to begin moving. Rob's true gift is his ability to present concepts in a clear, understandable yet unique way. | |
